First of all, I do not like to go shopping, especially during the holidays. The internet, specifically Amazon and Ebay, have saved my life. I can just simply research, find and buy Christmas gifts. Instead of just getting gift certificates, that scream the obvious... that I didn't put any though into it, I can actually get a gift and not have to fight the crowd, find the right store or ask questions to someone that probably doesn't really know what they are talking about. To keep the gift a secret from my wife, I simply purchase a prepaid credit card and use it to pay and have the packages sent to a friends house. Of course the education aspect of the internet is affecting me because here I am, creating this blog for a college course. But, what affects me the most is the shopping and research.
Additionally, nearly all the information in the world is available on the internet; readily available at that. This gives anyone with access to the internet an almost instant answer to almost any question. In my mind, ignorance is now a less viable excuse for... well, anything. If you have a dumb question, there is no better way to get and actual answere than on the information superhighway...
I think shopping online is the best idea ever! A few years ago my children & I spent Christmas and New Years with our family in Florida. My family's quite large so I did all my Christmas shopping online (finding the best sales ever) and had them delivered to my cousin's house in Florida. Everyone had a gift from us & we didn't have to lug them around at the airport! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's already great for hiding gifts from the kids. ;)
