The Zoo and a 2 year old

My wife and I took our son, Carter, to the Columbus (Ohio) Zoo this weekend. It was interesting. We saw everything. To our surpise, Carter was very well behaved and in complete amazement. He is usually very high strung, bored easily and ready to move on to something else. I had read somewhere that if you talk about an upcoming trip or event with a toddler in the days leading up to it that they will actually enjoy it more. Kind of like putting a face with a name of a person you have spoken with on the phone but never seen. We talked about lions, bears, penguin(my wifes favorite) and monkeys mostly. It was strange to see that when we were at these exhibits, that he would observe very intently and then point and look at us like, "do you see the monkeys?" It is amazing how quickly they learn new things at that age. Much quicker than us adults. It would be nice to be able to learn as easily as a 2 year old.

We couldn't get him away from these goats!

  1. great pictures! it looks like your son had a wonderful time. My daughted used to love going the zoo for the animals. But the walking always got to her after awhile. One thing's for certain, she loved the fact that she's very petite because she fit into a stroller for the longest time! lol
